Wall clock with a touch of Sapporo Station

Takenobu Igarashi, renowned designer and creator of the iconic Big Clock of Stars at Sapporo Station in Japan, has once again impressed with his latest creation, the eki clock. Drawing inspiration from his experience designing public clocks, Igarashi has seamlessly translated his vision into a private living space.

The eki clock boasts a stunning dial with unique number types, ensuring easy readability. Notably, the clock numbers are strategically positioned, with the lower half designed for effortless reading from the ground. The frame, made using aluminum sand casting and lathing techniques, exudes simplicity and sophistication. The minimal distance between the dial and glass further enhances the clock's sleek design.

Utilizing traditional industry techniques from Takaoka, Japan, the eki clock's frame is a testament to the marriage of craftsmanship and innovation. The result is a wall clock that not only tells time but also serves as a statement piece in any living space.

With its high visibility and striking black and white color combination, the eki clock seamlessly transitions from a public clock to a home clock. Its original dials and impeccable design make it a versatile addition to any interior.

The eki clock, a product of collaboration between producer Hiroshi Takata, designer Takenobu Igarashi, and TAKATA Lemnos Inc., was initially designed for Sapporo Station in 2003. Since then, it has been refined and released to the public in 2016.

Overcoming the challenge of integrating the design into existing clock parts, Igarashi focused on unifying all elements, from the width of the hands to the dials. The result is a harmonious and visually appealing timepiece that stands out in its simplicity.

The eki clock has received recognition for its outstanding design, earning the Bronze A' Furniture Design Award in 2018. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to an improved quality of life.
